Resident Portal

Settings

Review resident details, update contact preference, manage notifications, and control tutorials.

Overview

Resident Settings shows the resident's linked homeowner information and account preferences. It includes:

  • Resident details
  • Contact preference
  • Notification preferences
  • Tutorial preferences
  • Tutorial reset/run controls

Most profile fields are read-only because the board owns the official homeowner record.

Resident Details

The details section can show:

  • Name
  • Sign-in email
  • Unit or property address
  • Mailing address
  • Phone
  • Contact preference
  • Resident status
  • Board role if applicable
  • Community name

If name, unit, mailing address, phone, or status is wrong, use Contact board from Settings or Messaging.

Contact Preference

Residents can update their preferred contact method:

Preference Meaning
Portal Prefer communication through SyncHOA
Email Prefer email contact
Mail Prefer mailed/paper communication
Phone Prefer phone contact

This preference is stored on the homeowner record and is visible to the board. It also helps board workflows identify offline residents, such as residents who may need mailed statements.

Notification Preferences

Residents can turn individual notification types on or off. Available resident settings include:

  • Dues reminders
  • Violation notices
  • Violation resolutions
  • Request updates
  • Meeting reminders
  • Replies to my forum posts
  • Followed forum threads

Notification types default on unless explicitly switched off.

Tutorial Preferences

Resident tutorials can guide residents through key pages. Settings include:

  • Tutorials - allow resident walkthroughs to run.
  • Auto-start new tutorials - start unfinished page tours automatically.

Residents can also run a tutorial again or reset saved progress.

Tutorial List

The tutorial list includes tours for:

  • Dashboard
  • Payments
  • Violations
  • Requests
  • Request detail
  • Violation detail
  • Documents
  • Updates
  • Calendar
  • Meetings
  • Polls
  • Forum
  • New forum thread
  • Forum thread
  • Messaging
  • Help & Support
  • Settings

Some tutorials only run from detail pages because they require a real record.

Board Access

If a resident is also a board member, Settings shows the board role and the portal layout may include a route back to the board portal. Board role changes are controlled by a president from the board Homeowners module.
