Resident Portal

Violations

Review violation notices, fines, evidence, status history, and resident responses.

Overview

The Violations page shows notices associated with the resident's homeowner profile. Residents can review the notice, status, category, fine, board notes, evidence photos, and status timeline. Residents can also add a response from the violation detail page.

Residents cannot change violation status. Status changes are controlled by the board and automation settings.

Violation Statuses

Status Meaning
Open The notice has been filed and needs attention
Notified The board has formally notified the resident
Escalated The issue requires additional board review or enforcement
Resolved The issue has been resolved or the fine has been paid
Dismissed The board dismissed the notice

Resolved and dismissed notices remain visible so residents can review history.

Summary Cards

The list page summarizes:

  • Open notices
  • Escalated notices
  • Notified notices
  • Resolved notices

Active notices appear first. Resolved and dismissed notices appear below the active list and may be collapsed behind a "show all" link when there are many historical records.

Fine Display

If a violation has a fine, the resident sees the fine amount. Fine display changes based on status:

  • Unpaid active fines are emphasized.
  • Paid or resolved fines are shown as complete.
  • Dismissed fines are visually de-emphasized.

Online violation fine payment can appear when Stripe Connect is active and the violation has an unpaid fine.

Detail Page

The violation detail page can include:

  • Notice category and description
  • Fine amount
  • Status and issued date
  • Resolution date when available
  • Evidence photos
  • Board notes
  • Resident responses
  • Workflow timeline
  • Payment action when applicable

Residents can add a written response up to the configured limit. The response is saved as a resident note and notifies the board.

Resident Responses

Use a response when:

  • You need clarification
  • You already corrected the issue
  • You want to provide context
  • You need to ask about a fine
  • You believe the notice was assigned incorrectly

Responses are visible to the board and become part of the violation history.

Notifications

Residents may receive notifications when:

  • A violation is filed
  • A violation status changes to notified or escalated
  • A violation is resolved or dismissed
  • The board adds a relevant update

Residents can turn violation notification types on or off in Settings.

What Residents Cannot Do

Residents cannot:

  • Edit the notice
  • Delete the notice
  • Change status
  • Remove evidence
  • Mark a fine paid manually
  • Assign the notice to someone else

Message the board if the notice is incorrect.
